Lawrence Allen Fullerton

Lawrence “Larry” Allen Fullerton, 86, of Albany, Georgia, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2023 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Larry was born on October 8, 1936 to Russell Leroy Fullerton and Theresa Pearl Roginski Fullerton in Kewanee, Illinois. At the age of 19, he joined the United States Marine Corps, where he served for 10 years, earning the rank of Sgt (E-5).

In 1960, Larry met Margie King of Moultrie, Georgia. The two married on July 15, 1961 and spent the following 61 years side by side. He is survived by his loving wife, Margie, his two sons, Michael “Mike” Glenn of Albany, and Robert “Robby” Douglas (Kimberly) of Marietta, three grandchildren, Whitney, Baker, and Banks, and one great-granddaughter, Virginia Grace Dean. He is also survived by his uncle Chester Roginski and his cousins, Pearl Faoro, Marsha Westlin, Dennis Westlin, Daniel Ficek, Diana Roginski, Debbie Roginski, and Deborah Boyatitus.

Larry was a member of Masonic Lodge 708 for over 50 years and was also a member of the American Legion. He was of service to Sherwood Baptist for over 20 years, worked for McGregor Golf, M&M Mars, and eventually retired from Louis-Dreyfus. Not one to remain idle, Larry took on part-time jobs at Ace Hardware and Master Body Works. He made coffee every morning for years at the convenient store, prayed and read his Bible faithfully every morning, made his rounds to all of the pawn shops, drove his golf cart every evening after dinner to visit all of the neighbors, and flirted with every server at every restaurant he ever visited. Larry never met a stranger and the world is a better place because he was in it.

Visitation will be held at Mathews Funeral Home, 3206 Gillionville Road, Albany, Georgia on Friday, February 10, 2023 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The graveside service will be held at Sumner City Cemetery, 143 Sumner Road S, Sumner, Ga on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at 11:00 am. with military honors to follow.
