LaRue Lewis Williams

LaRue Williams, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at the age of 86 on May 27, 2026 Funeral services will be held Monday, June 1, 2026 11:00 A.M at Mathews Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery.

She lived a life marked by adventure, laughter, and an unyielding love for those around her. A true citizen of the world, LaRue had an insatiable curiosity and a zest for life. She traveled widely, exploring the Nordic countries, cruising to Antarctica, holding a koala in Australia, and even visiting the set of The Lord of the Rings. Nothing slowed her down-not even a few broken ribs in Japan (or Italy). She approached life with courage, humor, and a lighthearted shrug that made every story unforgettable.

LaRue loved experiences of all kinds, whether catching lobster in Guam, walking along the beach with friends or family, cooking fresh fish from the lake, riding horses, or attending theater productions with her children and grandchildren across the Southeast.She and her husband went to Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany, GA, where they enjoyed many happy years of service and fellowship.

She was preceded in death by her husband, H.J. Williams, and her parents, Clarence and Stella Lewis.

LaRue is survived by her daughters, Angie West and Pam Bangs; her grandchildren, Chase West, Jade Pruett, and Hunter Bangs; and her great-grandson, Redding Pruett. Her spirit, generosity, and love will live on through them, their spouses, and all who were fortunate enough to know her.

The family will receive family and friends one hour prior to the funeral service.
