Larry Woodrow Watson

Larry Woodrow Watson, 80, of Lee Co., GA passed away Friday, June 23, 2023 at St. Francis Hospital in Columbus, GA. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, June 26, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Friendship Baptist Church of Lee County. Rev. Mark Spraggins will officiate. Interment will follow in Bronwood Cemetery.

Larry was a retired farmer and was well known throughout Southwest GA from farming and managing land in Lee, Terrell, Dougherty and Baker counties. His hobbies included bass fishing, spending time with his fishing friends for lunch and spending time with all of his family. He enjoyed watching all of his grandchildren playing baseball and softball.

He was a member and Deacon of Friendship Baptist Church of Lee County which was built on farmland that he had managed in his past. He was a devoted servant and spent much time taking care of the church property. He was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow Wilson Watson and Julia Kate King Watson and a sister, Joyce Starrak.

He was also a former member of Albany Bassin' Buddies and Southern Field Trial Club. He was affectionately known as Big Fish, a nickname given to him by friend and fishing partner, Julian Mann.

Survivors include his wife of sixty two years, Eleanor Tripp Watson, son, Larry Woodrow Watson (Woody) Watson, Jr. and his wife Lauren Walden Watson, daughter, Wendy Watson Hollomon and her husband Gene all of Lee Co., GA., sister, Gail Watson O'Mary and her husband Keith, Ft. Gaines, GA, grandchildren, Hannah Hollomon Spencer and husband Damian, Marlee Hollomon Bulmer and husband Jake, Jenna Catherine Hollomon, William Garrett Watson, Julia Kate Watson and great-grandchildren, Aubree Kate Spencer, Auldyn Lee Spencer and Dane Joseph Spencer.

The family will receive friends Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at Friendship Baptist Church of Lee County.
