Kurt Lau of Leesburg, Georgia passed away on January 27, 2026, at the age of 57. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Kurt was born in Vineland, New Jersey to the late Raymond and Louella Wynn Lau. He spent his early years in New Jersey and Pennsylvania where he earned his bachelor’s degree from Kutztown University. He later made Georgia his home, living in Statesboro for 21 years before moving to Leesburg.

Kurt proudly served as a GIS Technician for the City of Albany for 9 years, where he was known for his dedication, technical skill, and willingness to help others.

Above all, Kurt was a devoted father and grandfather. He is survived by his children, Rebecca Lau and Jacob Lau, both of Statesboro, and his beloved granddaughter Cora Lau-Martinez. He is also survived by his siblings: Sandi DelVicario (Carmine), Steve Lau (Brenda), and Scott Lau (Alicia), along with extended family and friends who will miss him deeply.

Kurt had a lifelong passion for sports and was a loyal fan of many teams, including the Philadelphia Flyers, Philadelphia Phillies, New York Jets, Alabama Crimson Tide, West Virginia Mountaineers, Nebraska Cornhuskers, Ohio Bobcats, and the Kutztown Golden Bears. He also had a deep love for history, especially the Civil War.

Music was another great joy of Kurt’s life. He loved classic bands such as The Beatles, The Who, The Searchers, Moody Blues, The Monkees, and R.E.M, often sharing his favorite songs with those around him.

Kurt had a deep appreciation for nature, especially reptiles and birds, and took great joy in learning about and observing them.

Kurt will be remembered for his intelligence, curiosity, humor, and the love he had for his family. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched and the memories he created with those who knew him best.
