Kevin William Kelly

Kevin William Kelly a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, 75, of Albany, GA died peacefully at home on March 23, 2024.  A memorial service will be held Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Mathews Funeral Home.  Mr. Ross Powell will officiate.

Kevin was born in Eufaula, AL to the late William Joseph and Lois Jernigan Kelly.   He graduated from Albany High School in 1967 and graduated from Georgia Southwestern College in 1972 where he played tennis.  Kevin loved and enjoyed playing the game of tennis over the years.  He traveled and played in many tournaments in GA, FL and AL.

During Kevin’s childhood, he loved visiting his grandparent’s house on the farm in Baker Hill, AL.  So many treasured memories with his cousins, aunts and uncles.  Wonderful family reunions were held there over the years.   Kevin also loved traveling to the beach and mountains.  Kevin was the tennis pro at Doublegate Country Club and after retiring, he started American Publications, including FSBO and LaGrange, Thomasville and Americus Apartment Guides.   

In 1983, Kevin’s dream came true when he flew to England for the first time.   Along with his wife, Diane and two special friends, Anne and Rusty Moulton, he attended the Wimbledon Tennis Championships at the All England Lawn Tennis Club.  Best trip ever!  He will be greatly missed.

Kevin is survived by his wife, Diane, son, Chase (Sara), grandchildren, Weston and Sidney, sister, Mary Anne (Mike) Sims, nieces, April Sims and Holly Claussen, sister-in-law, Debbie (Ray) Deacon 

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm before the service at 

Mathews Funeral Home.

The family wishes to thank Georgia Hospice Care, all the nurses and CNA’S who took wonderful care of Kevin over the last few months and for every family member and dear friends for their visits, support, love and prayers during Kevin's illness.
