Katie Mullis Wilson, 81, of Albany, Georgia, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2025, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family. A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 9, 2025, at The Chapel at Sherwood Baptist Church, with Rev. Ken Bevel officiating. Interment will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service in the atrium at Sherwood Baptist Church.
Katie was born on February 13, 1944, in Tifton, Georgia, to Ollie B. and Willie Kate Mullis. She was raised on the family farm near Enigma, Georgia, and graduated from Berrien County High School. Driven by compassion and a strong work ethic, Katie pursued a career in nursing, completing her training in Ocilla, Georgia. She began her career in Fitzgerald, where she met and later married her beloved husband, Jackie Aaron Wilson, in 1965. They moved to Albany in 1967, where Katie dedicated more than four decades to her profession as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Phoebe Putney Hospital until her retirement in 2009.
Katie was a member of Sherwood Baptist Church. Her life was marked by quiet strength, kindness, and a nurturing spirit. She found great fulfillment in gardening and cherished time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Katie was preceded in death by her husband, Jackie Aaron Wilson, and siblings Sheril Mullis, Carol Mullis, J.D. Mullis, and James Mullis.
She is survived by her son, Robert A. “Bobby” Wilson (Wendy) of Cordele, GA; her grandchildren, Robert A. Wilson II (Adarah) of Albany, GA, Saralyn Wilson Bracken (Benjamin) of Mableton, GA, and Addison Wilson Hay (Cameron) of Sanford, FL; and her great-grandchildren, John Wilson Bracken and Isabella Hay. She also leaves behind her siblings Elaine Gardner of Tifton, GA, Thelma Smith (James) of TyTy, GA, Margie Cole of Norman Park, GA, Sylvia Ann Brady (Tim) of Tifton, GA, Debbie Jo Mullis of Enigma, GA, and Earl Mullis (Patricia) of Enigma, GA.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in Katie’s memory to Sherwood Baptist Church, c/o Preschool Ministry, 2201 Whispering Pines Rd., Albany, GA 31707.
Katie’s legacy of care, love, and quiet faith will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
