Joy Martin Harrison

Joy Martin Harrison of Albany, Georgia died peacefully December 8, 2025. A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 13, 2025 at 11:00 am at The Walden Chapel of The First Methodist Church of Albany, GA. Rev. Laurel Griffith will officiate.

Joy was born in Dawson, GA on August 18, 1941 to the late Robert Martin and Elmina Martin Williams. She was raised in Dawson, graduated from Terrell County High School, where she was a proud cheerleader and met many of her life-long friends. She married Lester Taylor Harrison in 1958, and moved the Albany, GA.  She graduated from Albany Technical School, where she was later employed as Administrative Assistant to the President, retiring as Marketing Assistant for Economic Development.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Taylor Harrison, her parents Robert Martin and Elmina Martin Williams and her sister Mina Jean Morgan.

She was a loving Mother to her children, Lester Taylor Harrison (Susan), Susan Daniels, and Kyle Harrison. She was also a devoted grandmother to Brittany (Michael) Rhodes, Lexie (Caleb) Sides, and Kevin Harrison and a loving aunt to several nieces and nephews. Joy enjoyed having coffee with neighborhood friends, playing golf and bridge with couple friends and clubs. In her later years she loved attending all sports/activities with her grandchildren, as well as traveling and walking with her life-long friends. She attended First United Methodist Church and was active with her Sunday School, Littleton Class, this faithful group never forgot her even when she couldn’t attend. So many called her friend and her gracious Southern charm and accent will be missed by many.

Visitation will be held Saturday, December 13, 2025 in the parlor at First United Methodist Church from 10:00 am until 11:00 am. Those desiring may make memorials in memory of Joy to First Methodist Church of Albany, Flint Ave., Albany, GA, 31701.
