John Walter “J.W.” Law, Sr. of Dawson, Georgia passed away at his home on August 24, 2025. Funeral service will be held at Dawson Methodist Church at 11:a.m. on Wednesday, August 27. Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Dawson. Rev. Mike Davis will officiate.
Born on June 5, 1935 in Cuthbert, Georgia to Jim Law and Elma Martin Law, Mr. Law was raised in the Pachitla Community in Randolph County. He received his education in Randolph County schools before attending ABAC in Tifton, Georgia.
In 1957 he married his sweetheart Jeaneane and moved to Terrell County, Ga., where he became more involved in agriculture as a row crop farmer and a cattleman. His knowledge of cattle was vast and it became his career. He was a lifetime member of the Georgia Cattlemen’s Association and avid supporter of 4-H. He also was a businessman owning and operating a dry cleaner business in Albany, Ga. He was a man of many talents.
JW was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting is his early years. Fishing was his favorite pastime. He enjoyed all types of fishing from catching bluegill in a farm pond to fishing for saltwater fish such as sea trout and redfish. He especially loved sharing the outdoors with his family and friends.
JW has been a member of the Dawson Methodist Church for many years. During that time he has served on various boards and committees. He was a member of the Bessie Hoots Sunday School Class and for many years was a member of the Methodist Men.
He is preceded in death by his wife Jeaneane Carol Frazier Law. His survivors include a daughter, Julie Law Senn (Tim) two sons, John Walter “Jay” Law, Jr. (Charlotte) and Allen Kirk Law (Dodie). Grandchildren, Kyle Frazier Law (Bobbie Kaie), Mary Kathryn “Katie” Law (boyfriend Landon), Carley Law Rice (Trae), Dylan Law (girlfriend Claudia), Justin Hancock (Becky), Nick Hancock, Eric Senn. His six great-grandchildren, Kaia Law, Weston Rice, Rylee Rice, Braxton Hancock, Tucker Hancock and Kellen Hancock. Also special family member Willie Daniel.
The family will receive friends at the Law Log Cabin located .6 miles from the intersection of GA Highway 32 and Morris Fleming Road on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 from 5pm to 7pm.
