Jo Anne Johnston O’Quinn, 91, of Opelika, AL passed away Wednesday, April 8, 2026 at The Arbor Springs Health and Rehabilitation Center. A Memorial service will be held Monday, April 13, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Ross Powell will officiate. A private inurnment will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery.
Jo Anne was born on May 14, 1934 in Palmetto, GA to Roy T. and Annie Grace Johnston. She grew up in Albany, GA and graduated from Albany High School in 1952. Shortly after graduation, she met and married her “first love”, Herbert Lee Johnson. They were blessed with two sons.
Along with her love of being a mother and homemaker, she also was fortunate to have found a career she enjoyed. Jo Anne was employed with Prudential Insurance Company for thirty-five years eventually relocating to Macon, GA, Pensacola, FL, Savannah, GA before her retirement.
While living in Macon, GA Jo Anne met and fell in love with her “true love and soulmate”, David B. O’Quinn. Jo Anne moved to Auburn, AL in 2021 to be closer to her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Herbert Lee Johnson and David B. O’Quinn and sisters, Mary Grace Grimes and Virginia Greene.
She is survived by her sons, H. Lee (Carole) Johnson and Scott H. (Linda) Johnson, her grandchildren, Amelia Bultena, Matt (Danielle) Johnson, Meghan (Brett) Reichert, Cole Johnson, Dustin Johnson, Shay Johnson (Chandler) Miller and Seaborn Johnson (Lindsey) and seven great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Mathews Funeral Home.
