Jerry Alan Schenk

Jerry Alan Schenk, 78, of Albany, GA, passed away Sunday, April 5, 2026 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 11, 2026 at 1:00 pm at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Bruce English will officiate. Services and interment will follow in Cleveland, NC at Lebanon Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Jerry was born in Cleveland, NC on May 22, 1947 to the late Junior and Mary Katherine Schenk. He grew up there and graduated from Rowan County High School and graduated from Catawba College. Jerry was employed with Henkel Chemical Company for many years and was a member of Lebanon Lutheran Church.

Jerry was transferred from Charlotte, NC to Riverdale, GA in 1996. There he met his wife, Linda S. Wingate and they were married for 30 years. They most recently lived in Port St. Joe, FL and recently returned to Albany, GA. Jerry liked working in his yard, old cowboy movies and any sports.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Wingate Schenk of Albany, GA, his daughter, Crystal Watkins of Charlotte, NC, his step-children, Kieth Wingate and Tambi Wingate Williams both of Albany, GA, a sister, Susan “Susie” Saine (Darriell) of Cleveland, NC, two grandchildren, Noah Williams of Cleveland, NC and Danielle Smith (Will) and their son, William Smith of Cherry Point, NC., 8 step-grandchildren and 9 step-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm before the service at Mathews Funeral Home.
