Jerry McDonald

Marvin G. “Jerry” McDonald, 88 of Leesburg, died Wednesday, September 17, 2025 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.

His funeral service will be 3:00 PM, Saturday, September 20, 2025 at First Baptist Church of Leesburg with interment to follow at Leesburg Cemetery. Rev. Bobby Harrell and Rev. Josh Posey will officiate.

Born in Donaldsonville, Mr. McDonald retired from the Albany Fire Department after 32 years and was a veteran of the U. S. Navy. He was an active member of First Baptist Church of Leesburg and assisted in the maintenance at the church.

Mr. McDonald was an avid golf player enjoyed watching baseball, football, but most of all he loved spending time with family.

He was preceded in death by a daughter Babette Senn, parents, William and Edna McDonald, Sr. and a brother William “Bill” McDonald, Jr.

Survivors include his wife LaVerne Holden McDonald, son, Michael Chavers (Lisa), daughters, Stasie Harrell, Becky Brown (Tommy), Amy Chambers (Ashley), grandchildren, James Senn (Emily), David Senn (Kristy), Brandon Senn (Laurie), Riley Harrell (Shelly), Randy Harrell (Kendra), Lacie Futch (Hunter), Leslie Chavers (Charlie), Jeremy Chavers (Mary), Matthew Brown (Kristi), Jordan Fallin (Hunter), Baleigh Brown (fiancée Jeremy Goff), Emilia Chambers, Davis Chambers and large group of great grandchildren.

He is also survived by his brother, George McDonald (Travis), sister, Cheryl Rackley (Tom), sister-in-law, Mildred McDonald and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at First Baptist Church of Leesburg.
