Jerold "Jerry" Alvin Dollar

Jerrold Alvin “Jerry” Dollar, 71, of Albany, Georgia, passed away at his home on Saturday, July 4, 2026.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 9, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Mathews Funeral Home with Pastor Debbie Cone officiating. Interment will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Mathews Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of the service.

Born in Swainsboro, Georgia, Jerry was raised in Albany, where he attended the Dougherty County School System and graduated from Albany High School. He continued his education at Auburn University. He went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in Marketing and later took over and operated his fathers automotive chemical distribution business, where he built lasting relationships through his integrity, hard work, and genuine care for others.

Jerry never met a stranger. His warm personality, kind heart, and quick wit made people feel like friends almost immediately. He had a gift for telling the perfect dad joke and could always be counted on to bring laughter into any room. He was thoughtful, generous, and the kind of man who was always willing to lend a helping hand or offer an encouraging word.

Nothing brought Jerry more joy than his family. He adored his children and cherished every moment spent with his grandsons, proudly talking about their accomplishments to anyone who would listen. He was a devoted Auburn fan who rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on the Tigers. He loved gathering around the table with family and friends, whether enjoying a home-cooked meal or trying out a favorite restaurant. The simple moments spent together meant the most to him.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Harold Milton Dollar and Ann Marie Duke Dollar; his infant sister, Dell Lynn Dollar; and his lifelong friend and the mother of his children, Janice Stewart Dollar Bentley.

He is survived by his brothers and sisters, Mike Dollar (Dollie), Angie Batson (Barry), and Karen Leech (Greg); his daughter, Stephanie Dollar Najjar (Tony) of Albany, Georgia; his son, Jeremy Bryan Dollar (Stacie Porter Brown) of Leesburg, Georgia; and his beloved grandchildren, Aiden Gage Dollar, Rigby Banks Brown, Joseph Oliver Najjar, and Alexander Henry Najjar, along with many extended family members and dear friends who will forever treasure his memory.

Jerry will be remembered for his infectious sense of humor, unwavering love for his family, loyal friendships, and the kindness he extended to everyone he met. To know Jerry was to love him, and his memory will continue to bring smiles to all who were fortunate enough to share in his life.
