Janice Davis Saam

Janice Davis Saam, 85, of Albany, GA, died April 30, 2025 at the Willson Hospice House. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 5, 2025 at 2:00 pm at Mathews Funeral Home. Mr. Ross Powell will officiate. Interment will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery.

Janice was born in Bridgeport, CT on December 1, 1939 to William and Ruth Davis. She grew up there and graduated from Bassick High School, Western Connecticut State University in Danbury, CT and also held a Paralegal Certificate from Darton College. She met her future husband, Richard “Dick” Saam and they married in 1962. Dick was transferred to The Marine Corps Logistic base and they moved to Albany, GA later that year.

Janice served as Assistant Director of the Math Lab at Darton College where she held various teaching positions and was employed with the Marine Corps Logistic Base, Albany, GA where she retired in 2005.

Janice was a member of Fellowship Free Will Baptist Church, Alpha Beta Gamma, member of the Albany Human Society, The United States Humane Society and the Best Friends Humane Society. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dick Saam and a sister, Nancy Jennings.

Survivors include her son, James A. “Jamie” Saam (Stephanie), three grandchildren, J. Tyler Saam, Tifani Saam and M. Todd Hartley (Jessica), a niece, Linda Jennings f and two nephews, Brian Jennings of and David Jennings. Survivors also include a close friend, Dorothy Hardin.

A visitation will be held Monday from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm before the funeral on Monday at Mathews Funeral Home.
