Janice Cecilia Barbour

Janice Tatum Barbour, 79, of Leesburg, GA passed away peacefully at Willson Hospice House on March 6, 2026 after a long illness. She was a devout Christian and was looking forward to meeting her Lord.

Born in Waycross GA on December 23, 1948, she was daughter of the late Cecil Tatum and Evelyn Cox Tatum. She was a smart and kind, yet feisty lady who loved her family and friends dearly. Janice enjoyed gardening, the outdoors, and had a particular fondness for birds. She was well known as a great cook and had won several cooking contests in her lifetime.

Janice last worked as a legal secretary for Custer & Custer for 32 years, beginning in 1991 and retiring in 2023.

She is survived by her son Mark (wife Dianne) of Bowling Green, OH; her grandchildren Casey, Sydney and Luke; sisters Lona Hoover of Florence SC and Helen Leverett of Leesburg GA and brother Carey Tatum (wife Lynn) of Leesburg GA; and several beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister Annette.

Per her wishes, there will not be a memorial service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Albany Audubon Society in her memory.
