James "Jimmie" Swann, Jr.

James M. “Jimmie” Swann, Jr., 77, of Albany, died peacefully at his home, Friday April 14, 2023.

His graveside service will be 11:00 AM Monday, April 17, 2023 at Lakeside Baptist Church Cemetery in Newton.  Rev. Cecil Kinney will officiate.

Born in Brunswick and raised in Elmodel, Mr. Swann retired from Bellsouth after 38 years with them.  After his retirement he volunteered with SAM Shortline Excursion Train.  Jimmie was a train enthusiast, coin collector, a member of Lakeside Baptist Church in Newton and former member of Raleigh White Baptist Church. 

Survivors include his wife Sara Hart Swann, Albany, daughters, Tiffany Swann Hall (Jeff), Lani Swann Milling (Shane), granddaughters, Lindsey Hall Kinney (Cecil) Carly Hall, Layla Jane Tennyson, sister Laura Sue Barbosa all of Lee County and many nieces and nephews.  

He was preceded in death by his parents, James M. Swann, Sr. and Fannie Tucker Swann.

The family will receive friends 3:00 to 5:00 PM Sunday, April 16, 2023 at Mathews Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers please make memorials to Phoebe Hospice, 320 Foundation Lane, Albany, GA 31707 or Lakeside Baptist Church, 2450 Elmodel Hwy, Newton, GA 39870.
