James Alvin "Jim" Highsmith

James Alvin “Jim” Highsmith, 75, of Dougherty County, died August 23, 2025 at The Willson Hospice House. No services will be held at this time.

Jim was born in Homerville, GA on October 11, 1949 to James Alexander Highsmith and Lueetta Christine Sangster Highsmith. He moved with his family as his father was transferred to different stations. His father was transferred to Turner Field in 1971 and Jim lived here the rest of his life.

Jim married Lois Maudine Glausier on July 28, 1972 and began his career at Merck Chemical in 1976. He was a member of The Sportsman Club and The Loyal Order of The Moose # 1285. Jim enjoyed the outdoors and deer hunting. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Tim Highsmith.

Survivors include his wife, Maudine Highsmith of Leesburg, GA, his children, Stephanie Highsmith Potter of Lee County, GA and Amanda Highsmith Mitchell (Kevin) of Hoschton, GA, his siblings, Joyce Ann McCoy (Wayne) of Boerne, TX and Janet Highsmith of Albany, GA and his grandchildren, Trent Alexander Mitchell of Hoschton, GA, Brandon Cole Potter of Lee County, GA and Sarah Elizabeth Mitchell of Hoschton, GA.
