James Roger Carlton

James Roger Carlton, 62, of Albany died, Thursday, February 19, 2026 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.

The family will receive friends, 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Friday, February 27, 2026 at Mathews Funeral Home and will hold a private memorial service.

Born and raised in Albany, Roger was a Master Cosmetologist for over 40 years. He was a 1981 graduate of Dougherty High School where he was in the Marching Band and the Rifle Team. His favorite thing to do was spending time with his great niece and nephews.

Mr. Carlton was preceded in death by his father James David Carlton and his Mother Delores LaRue Nix (Donnie).

Survivors include his sister, Michelle Carlton McMullen (Rick), brother, Sean Nix (Cindy), nieces, Kaylan Johnson (Bruce), Dakota McCall (Joe), Carly Callahan, nephews, Adam Nix, Tristan Epps (Makayla), great niece, Sophie McCall, great nephews, Grayson McCall, Kason Johnson, Weston Epps, Noah Nix, Collier Nix, cousins, Michael Walker, Keith Edward and Debra Blanford.
