Jack Corbin, Sr., age 84, passed away at his residence in Marietta, Georgia, on Thursday, May 7, 2026. He was a beloved father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend.
A small graveside service will be held at Floral Memory Gardens in Albany, Georgia, on Monday, June 1, 2026, at 12:00 noon.
Jack was born in Quitman to Lee and Edna Corbin. As the oldest son and second-born child, he was known for his intelligence, quick wit, and playful sense of humor. After graduating from Albany High School and developing an interest in architecture and engineering, he moved to Atlanta and began a lifelong career in structural engineering.
Jack later graduated from Georgia Institute of Technology in the 1980s and remained a devoted supporter of the Yellow Jackets throughout his life. During his distinguished career, he worked with several prominent engineering firms in the Atlanta area and contributed to the design and construction of numerous structures that helped shape the downtown Atlanta skyline.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Jack had a passion for photography, art, camping, and hiking, interests he enjoyed well into his later years. One of his proudest achievements was completing the entire Appalachian Trail. He also loved to travel and enjoyed adventures throughout Asia, London, and Alaska.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Edna Sullivan Corbin; his sister, Vivian Corbin Theel; and his brother, Bill Corbin.
He is survived by his son, Jack Corbin, Jr.; his grandson, Jack Corbin III (Trey); his brother, Paul Corbin and his wife, Anne; his niece, Trish Cook and her husband, Roger; as well as several great-nephews, great-nieces, great-great-nephews, and great-great-nieces.
Jack will be remembered for his intelligence, sense of humor, adventurous spirit, dedication to his profession, and love for his family. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched and the structures that stand as a testament to his life's work.
