Jack Beamon, 83, of Smithville, GA passed away Monday, May 11, 2026. Graveside funeral services will be conducted Friday, May 15, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Smithville City Cemetery. Rev. Simon Franklin will officiate.
Mr. Beamon was born in Smithville, GA where he remained his whole life, he graduated from Lee County High School and joined the Army in 1963 and in 1964 he was assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division where he remained until 1967. He accomplished twenty seven jumps.
He loved fishing and hunting and was raised on the Kinchafoonee Creek.
After his time in service he returned home and married the Love of His Life, Lena Christine Price Beamon. They were married for the next sixty four years.
He was a man that never stopped. He first started off with a pulpwood yard and managed that for ten years before farming full time that he did for thirty six years along with cattle. Mr. Beamon started a commercial hauling service and served the farming community with their harvested crops.
He owned a restaurant known as Home Place Restaurant where he spoke and talked to all that entered. He served President Jimmy Carter often and they had many conversations even with the security that was present. He was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Waylo J. Beamon and Elise J. Johnson Beamon, his wife, Lena Christine Price Beamon and son, Ronald Jack Beamon, siblings, Fred Beamon, Mitchell Beamon, James Beamon, Louette Beamon Wisener and Mary Joe Bailey.
Survivors include his daughter, Jane Beamon Liggin (Scott), Smithville, GA, grandchildren, Brandy Hazen (Erick), Blaire Wood (Steve), Christian Freeman (Dylan), Taylor Tyson (Travis) ad six great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends, Thursday, May 14, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Mathews Funeral Home.
