Henry W. Hays, Jr.

Henry West Hays, Jr. (Hank) passed away on January 12, 2020.  Hank had just celebrated his 73rd birthday.  A memorial service will be conducted on Friday, Jan 17, 2020 at 11:00 am at Covenant Presbyterian Church.  Dr. William “Biff” Coker will officiate.  The family will receive friends one hour before the service.

Hank was born in Mitchell Co, Georgia January 6, 1947.  His childhood through high school was primarily spent in Albany, Ga. He attended Mercer University where he was a member of the ATO fraternity.  He served in Army Intelligence based in Baltimore, Md. for 3 years.  His young adult life was spent in Baltimore where his 2 sons were born. He was previously a member of Byne Memorial Baptist Church and in recent years a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church.

Hank has lived back in Georgia since 1991 following a debilitating stroke.  Hank was incredibly blessed to have such a lifelong support system of many family members and friends including Donna and Henry Aldridge and Sheridan and Nelson Rushton, who were always there for him at a moment’s notice.  His strong personality led to an admirable determination to live life to the fullest.  He continued to enjoy hunting, fishing, drawing, cooking, attending church and spending time with family and friends. 

Hank is preceded in death by his parents, Ruby and Henry Hays, and brother Hugh Hays.  Hank is survived by two sons, Westley Hays (Katie) and two grandchildren, Graham and Ellie Hays of Cherry Hills Village, Colorado and Ross Hays (Jordan) of Staunton,Virginia and his sister, Kaellen Hays Roberts of Clyo, Georgia.  He is also survived by nieces Lori Roberts, Rachel Thompson, Stephanie Dickerson (Ira), Amber Hinely, and Katy Grace Thompson.  His surviving nephews are Morgan Hays and Will Dickerson.
