Mrs. Helen Kierce Butler, 94, died July 3rd, 2024 at Seymour Southern Comforts in Bronwood, GA after a long illness. Mrs. Butler was born in Sale City, GA on June 13, 1930 to Rudolf Kierce and Rosie Hathcock Kierce. 

She graduated Albany High School in 1948. Later, she attended Albany JR College for a certificate of interior design and floral arranging. Mrs. Butler was on the Lee County Board of Elections for over 20 years, was a member of the state Democratic Executive Committee, held various positions in several political state campaigns, enjoyed traveling on the "Peanut Brigade", walking in the Presidential Inaugural parade with the Carter family and having lunch in the family residence at the White House. She was a faithful member of Byne Memorial Baptist Church for over 60 yrs where she taught 5 yr olds for over 25 years. 

In addition to her parents, she was proceeded in death by her husband of almost 60 years, Tommy Butler, grandson David Wren, Jr, Susie Q her cat, her brothers, JB, LB, James and Gene Kierce and sisters, Myrtice Stripling and Christine Hughes.

She is survived by her daughters and son in laws, Teresa and Rick Bish of Elberton, GA, Vicki and Dr. David Wren, Wendy and Greg Pate, her grandchildren Haylee and Lyndsey Wren, Brittany (Mark) Stalvey, all of Lee County, Landon Pate of Atlanta, GA and 4 great grands Caiden, David Thomas, Mayson and Marley. Her favorite niece, Linda Denney and very special friend and UGA Dawg, Frank Hines of Dawson/Bronwood. As she would say, GOOOO Dawgs!

Graveside funeral services will be conducted at Leesburg Cemetery Saturday, July 6, 2024 at 4:00 p.m. with the Reverend Mark Jackson officiating.

The family would like to thank Priscilla and staff, of Seymour Southern, for taking care of our mother, being so kind and helpful the past 2 years.
