Harry Lee Hardegree, 75, passed away on April 18, 2026, in Anderson, South Carolina.
Born on November 21, 1950, in Washington, D.C., Harry was the son of the late Lester, Sr. and Dorothy Lee East Hardegree of Albany, Georgia. From his teenage years onward, he proudly claimed Albany as his hometown, forming lifelong connections within that community.
Harry was a graduate of Albany High School and Albany Junior College before earning his Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Georgia. A dedicated and dependable employee, he spent his career at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, from which he later retired.
In 2019, Harry relocated to Anderson, South Carolina, where he spent his final years. He remained an avid fan of the Georgia Bulldogs and the Atlanta Braves, rarely missing an opportunity to cheer on his favorite teams. He also enjoyed reading, following politics and local news, and, most of all, spending time socializing with friends and family.
He is survived by his fraternal twin brother, Dr. Lester Hardegree and his wife Johanna of Bluffton, South Carolina; his brother, William “Bill” Hardegree and his wife Bonnie of Albany, Georgia; and two nephews and one niece, Spencer Noel Hardegree and his wife Jordyn of Albany; William RL Hardegree of Savannah, Georgia; and Melissa Joy Dyches and her husband Chris of Greenville, South Carolina.
Harry will be remembered for his loyalty to family, his love of conversation, and his enduring enthusiasm for sports and current events. Though he spent his later years in Anderson, Albany always held a special place in his heart.
