Harold Gene “Spankey” Ham, 69, of Lee County, went to be with our Lord God on Thursday, June 22, 2023 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
Born in West Point, MS, to Lonnie Ham and Corrine Mims Ham, Harold spent most of his life in Georgia. Harold graduated from North Edgecombe High School in North Carolina. He was a truck driver starting with his family’s logging company, drove for several other companies, and retired from Early Trucking Company as a member of the “Million Mile Club.” His trucking buddies gave him the nickname, “Spankey,” he entertained friends and family with stories of his adventures on the road, and was the first one to call for directions.
In his younger days, Harold loved to hunt and fish. He loved horses, watching Westerns, the Georgia Bulldogs and the Mississippi State Bulldogs. He also liked the Braves and enjoyed a good sports-centered conversation. He was preceded in death by his father, Lonnie D. Ham.
Survivors include his mother, Corinne Mims Ham, sisters, Carolyn Ham and Patsy Ham all of Leesburg, GA, his nephews, Brian Schunck and Andrew Schunck both of Oak Park, MI, nieces, Amanda Blackburn of Leesburg, GA, Sidney Callahan (Cole) of Hendersonville, TN, Kaitlyn Goodman (Jeremy) of San Diego, CA, great nephews, Colby Blackburn, Noah Blackburn, Declan Callahan and many cousins.
