Glenna C. Hatfield

Leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, strength and dignity, Mrs. Glenna C. Hatfield, 83, of Lee County, Georgia, passed away Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Magnolia Manor in Americus, GA where her loving husband was daily by her side.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, February 16, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Dawson Rd. Church of Christ in Albany, Ga. Mr. Eddie Ferrell will officiate. Private family interment at Crown Hill Cemetery.

Glenna was born on November 30th, 1942, to Luther Herbert Capps and Alma Hunt Capps in Greenville, SC. She was raised by her mom, Alma, and stepfather, Charles Davis. She graduated from Greenville High School and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in 3 years from Furman University in 1963. During her career as a teacher, she went on to earn a Master’s of Education in Reading from Georgia Southwestern University on June 7, 1979, and Certification as a Media Specialist through Valdosta State University.

Glenna was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was someone who never met a stranger, who delighted in entertaining, meeting new people, and making people feel welcome and “at home”. She had a big open heart that loved and accepted people easily.

Many will remember her from her years spent teaching, working as a teacher at Lee County High School, the Administrator of South Georgia Christian Academy, and as a Media Specialist at Lee County Middle School, McIntosh Middle School, Palmyra Elementary School and Alice Coachman Elementary School prior to her retirement in December 2002. As a Media Specialist, she enjoyed sharing her love of reading and literature, and learning about the latest technology and then teaching others how to use it. She took great pleasure in being involved in the lives of children and strived to be a positive and encouraging influence in their lives.

Glenna was also a very active member of the Beattie Road Church of Christ. She spent many years teaching Sunday school, ladies bible classes, and vacation bible school. She taught young women leadership and public speaking skills through a program known as Lads to Leaders and Leaderettes.

As a loving wife and mother, her family adored, respected, and cherished her. Her precious and devoted husband of 61 years, Mr. Reed Hatfield Jr., has often been heard saying, “For a city girl, she sure did make a wonderful farmer’s wife!” Life on the farm, raising their three children was a way of life she embraced and thrived in.

Above all, Glenna exemplified the life of a faithful Christian servant who touched and made a difference in the lives of many. Her deep love for the Lord kept a light shining bright from within her. It was a light that never dimmed and she will be remembered for all the many ways she shared that light with the world.

She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved her.

Glenna was preceded in death by her parents Alma Hunt Davis, Charles Logan Davis, and Luther Herbert Capps.
