Glenda Cook Carlton

Glenda Sue Carlton, 71, of Lee County, Ga., died Friday, September 29, 2023, at her home.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday October 4, 2023 at Floral Memory Gardens in Albany, Ga.

Glenda was born in Colquitt, Ga on January 21, 1952 to the late Clyve and Mary Alma Cook and grew up in Colquitt. She was the youngest of nine children and adored by her family as the baby. She graduated from Miller County High School in 1970.

Glenda married Danny Carlton on June 7, 1970 and he was the love of her life. Together they moved to Albany, Ga. She worked as an insurance agent for almost fifty years. She was loyal to and beloved by her many customers and her love for them showed.

Her last 17 years were spent in Leesburg, Ga.

Glenda had no children of her own but she was a Mother to many. She was feisty and as her nieces and nephews can attest to she always did her best to “keep us straight.” She was strong in her Christian faith and loved the Lord. She also had a love of people.

She was preceded in death by her late husband Danny Carlton, her parents, brothers Carl, Jimmy, Wayne, and Glen Cook, and sister Inez Tomlinson. 

Survivors include her brother Carroll Cook (Gennie), Colquitt, sisters Lenora Cook Gregory, Leesburg, Patricia Cook Atkinson, Donalsonville, and many nieces and nephews. She also had a faithful companion in her cat Prissy.
