Mr. Gilbert George Ward Mr. Gilbert George Ward was born on January 5, 1943, in Kenton, Tennessee, to the late Gilbert Ward Sr. and Beatrice Foren. Raised with humble beginnings, he learned the value of hard work early in life while working as a sharecropper picking cotton. Those early experiences shaped the character, determination, and strong faith that would guide him throughout his life. At a young age, in the third grade, Gilbert gave his life to Christ, beginning a lifelong journey of faith and devotion to the Lord. He loved singing the old church hymns and found great joy in worship and fellowship with others.
Mr. Ward faithfully served his country for five years in the United States Navy. After his military service, he built a distinguished career working in the shipyards, where his dedication and leadership allowed him to rise through every rank. His commitment to excellence eventually led him to serve as a Civilian Military Executive Director for the United States Marines before retiring.
A devoted servant of God, Mr. Ward was a faithful member of the Church of the Nazarene in Albany, Georgia. His life was a testimony of selflessness, generosity, and unwavering love for God and His Word. He truly lived a life of service—both to his country and to the Kingdom of God. Gilbert was a loving husband and father.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 54 years, Beverly Wendorf Ward, and his daughter, Rebecca Ward Hatt.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving son-in-law, James Hatt, and his cherished grandchildren, Parker Hatt, Kingston Hatt, and Bren Everleigh Hatt, along with many extended family members and friends who were blessed by his kindness, wisdom, and faithful spirit. Mr. Ward’s legacy is one of faith, dedication, and love. His life reminds us that true greatness is found in serving others and walking faithfully with the Lord. Well done, good and faithful servant.
