Geraldine "Jerri" Phillips Gleaton

Geraldine "Jerri" Phillips Gleaton, 91, of Albany, Georgia, passed away peacefully at Willson Hospice House on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, with her loving family by her side.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 31, 2026, at Mathews Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Live Oak Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Charlie Brown will officiate.

Mrs. Gleaton was born on July 9, 1935, in Baker County, Georgia, to the late Clarence and Gladys Cotton Phillips. She was a faithful member of Byne Memorial Baptist Church and was a graduate of Georgia Southern University. Mrs. Gleaton retired from the United States Postal Service, where she served as the Administrative Assistant to the Postmaster. She also enjoyed playing the piano and won numerous awards in her younger years, including the superior rating of 1 in the Second District Elementary Music Festival, where she represented Elmodel High School. She continued playing the piano for many years in her Sunday school class at Byne Memorial Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Curtis Gleaton, who passed away on July 12, 2026.

She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Stahl (Mark) of Hobe Sound, Florida; her son, Curt Gleaton of Leesburg, Georgia; her grandchildren, Richard Stahl, Michael Stahl, Mallory Gleaton, and Ryan Gleaton; and her great-grandchildren, Kaylee Stahl, Addison Stahl, Ellie Stahl, and Lilly Stahl; her siblings, Jerome Phillips, Wayne Phillips and Judy Timmons.

The family will receive friends on Friday, July 31, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at Mathews Funeral Home.
