George Wallace Crawford, Jr.

George Wallace Crawford, Jr, 60, of Bronwood, GA, died December 18, 2022 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.  Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at 2:00 pm at the Bronwood United Methodist Church. Rev. Henry Lee Young, Jr. will officiate.  Interment will follow in the Bronwood City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm Wednesday before the service at Bronwood United Methodist Church.  

Wallace was born on May 18, 1962 in Macon, GA to George Wallace, Sr. and Alice Crawford. He grew up in Macon and graduated from Stratford Academy.  After high school, Wallace moved to Bronwood, GA to farm with his grandfather and uncle and attended Georgia Southwestern College. 

Wallace farmed and in 1993 Southpoint Plantation was started as a commercial venture.  He retired from row cropping in 2003, but continued to operate Southpoint Plantation until 2013.  In 2005 Wallace also started Southpoint Services, an agricultural irrigation business, which is now operated by his sons.  He was a member of Bronwood United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his children, Robert Crawford of Terrell County, GA, Betsy (Matt) Melvin of Albany, GA, Daniel (Ashlee) Crawford of Lee County, GA and Carrie (Justin) King of Albany, GA, the mother of his children, Deborah Crawford of Albany, GA, his grandchildren, Ella, Sutton and Clayton Melvin, Kendal, Rileigh, Hadley and Harper Crawford and Sarah and Isabelle King.
