Freddie R. "Fred" Hart

Freddie R. “Fred” Hart, 92, of Leary, GA, passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2026 at The Calhoun Nursing Home in Edison, GA. Graveside funeral services will be held Saturday, June 6, 2026 at 11:00 am at The Milford Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Jean Watson and Rev. Walter Blakenship will officiate.

Fred was born at home on the family farm in Baker County, GA on December 16, 1933 to the late John and Ruby Hart. He grew up there and loved to fish and hunt. At adulthood, Fred served his Country in The United States Army. He moved to Morgan, GA before marrying Patricia and moving to Leary, GA in 1981.

Fred was employed with Independent Life Insurance Company (now American General) for twenty-six years and was a member of Corday Community Church at Bull Neck. One of Fred’s favorite past times was planting his large vegetable garden behind his house in Leary. He was preceded in death by his siblings, John Hart, Jr., Roy Hart and Lattie Taylor.

Survivors include his wife of forty-five years, Patricia (Pennington) Hart of Leary, his son, Travis Hart of Macon, GA and Tina Hoffman (Mike) of Leary, GA, his granddaughter, Grace Braswell of Leary, GA and his great-grandson, Hayden Toreno of Denton, TX.

The family will receive friends Friday, June 5, 2026 from 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Mathews Funeral Home.
