Felicia Michelle Massey

It is with a sad heart that we announce the passing of our loved one. Michelle, as she was affectionately known, gained her wings on Sunday, July 20, 2025, surrounded by family at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 23, 2025 at 11:00 am at Mathews Funeral Home. Mr. Ross Powell will officiate. Interment will follow at Weston Baptist Church Cemetery.

Michelle was a spirited woman with a good heart, the kind of person who was always in your corner. If no one else advocated for you, Michelle would. She loved helping others whenever possible, and did so on numerous occasions, even when she could barely afford to. Many people who know her have a story of a time she came through for them. She never wanted anything in return, either.

She loved her family and five fur babies with all her heart. Most of all, she loved the Lord, and found strength and comfort in gospel music. She enjoyed old westerns (Gunsmoke was a favorite of hers), word search puzzles, and talking on the phone. Her laughter filled the house when she was having a particularly fun conversation. She had a beloved pink blanket, too, that was a gift from her daughter.

All in all, Michelle’s life was full of love, and her family is forever grateful for the time God gave them together.

Michelle was preceded in death by her mother, Juliette Lofton; stepfather, Wiley Lofton; and her father, Robert Hoague.

Those left to cherish her sweet memories include her loving husband of 41 years, James Massey Jr., and their daughter, Nicole Massey, both of Dawson, GA; her older brother, Travis Hoague (Nadine) of Delta Junction, AK.; and her younger brother, Jason Lofton (Lindsay) of Leesburg, GA. Michelle is further survived by extended family whom she loved.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at Mathews Funeral Home.
