Mrs. Fay Alene Lovett, 94, of Albany, GA passed away Monday, December 19, 2022 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, December 22, 2022 at 11:00 am at Mathews Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Floral Memory Gardens Cemetery. Rev. Mark Walker will officiate.
Mrs. Lovett was born May 12, 1928 in Miller County, GA to Peter Eager and Julia Gertrude Thomas Williams. She graduated from Miller County High School in 1945 worked for the Department of Agriculture.
Our Mama/Mimi was a role model for living a selfless, humble, and Christian life.
She only wanted the necessities for herself with the exception of finally getting to have a weekly hair appointment. She wanted her family to have more but not in any excessive way.
For over 50 years she was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church. She loved her church and the friends she made there and supported her church in many ways.
She was happiest in her kitchen and loved to cook. She showed her love this way and in everything she did for us. If you were lucky (and many were) you were the recipient of one of her wonderful pound cakes.
When it came to God’s word she wanted us to believe with all our hearts. She taught us the right way to live and what really is important in this world.
She asked us not too long ago what we thought heaven looked like. We told her we didn’t know but we hoped she’d have the most perfectly beautiful kitchen ever — and all she needed to go in it.
She left us an immeasurable legacy by the way she simply lived her life.
Mrs. Lovett was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Wayne Williams and his wife Evelyn, and Harry Williams and his wife Sara.
Survivors include her loving husband of seventy-five years, Aaron Lovett, their daughters, Carolyn Lovett of Leesburg, GA, Sandra Cohen of Albany, GA, her sister, Mildred Kimbrell, grandchildren, Brad Cohen (Ellen), Albany, GA, Jill Dominquez (Brian), Southlake, TX, Jeffery Cohen (Amanda), Albany, GA, and great grandchildren, Landen Cohen and Sam Dominquez.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 10:00 am until the funeral hour at Mathews Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers those desiring may make memorials to First Free Will Baptist Church, 420 N. Westover Blvd., Albany, GA, 31707.
