Elizabeth Ann Poole, 87, of Putney, GA passed away peacefully on April 27, 2026 at her home surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at 3:00 pm at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Cathy Geen will be the officiant. Interment will be at Crown Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to funeral service.
Ann was born in LaGrange, GA on March 1, 1939 to Vily Louise Wilson and Robert B. Wilson. She grew up in Columbus, GA alongside her two brothers, Robert L. (Bob) Wilson and the late James B. (Jimmy) Wilson.
Ann met the love of her life, Taylor M. “Curt” Poole, in 1954. They married in September 1955 and began their lives together in Denver Colorado where Curt was stationed with the Air Force. They moved to Albany, GA in 1960 eventually settling in Putney. She was a homemaker, mother of four, and an active member of the Putney United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir.
In 1975 she and Curt founded Skyline Equipment Company and worked together to grow what is now a third-generation family-owned business. In her retirement years she and Curt made several cross-country road trips exploring new places and visiting family and friends along the way. Ann always enjoyed being outside and one of her favorite pastimes was fishing. Whether she was reeling in red snapper in the gulf or catching bream at the lake, if Curt was with her, she was content. She also liked to work in her yard and spent countless hours tending her flower beds, and yes, cutting the grass. Above all, nothing brought her more joy than spending time with her loved ones be that at her home in Putney or gathered together for destination family reunions.
She was a devoted wife and mother who lived out her faith in all that she did. Her life was a sermon and she will be missed by all who knew and loved her. We love you Ann, Miss Ann, Mom, Aunt Ann, Nonnie.
Ann is survived by her husband of 70 years, Taylor M. “Curt” Poole of Putney, GA, children, Kathy (David) McQuaig, Ocala, FL, Sandy (Tony) Vest, Vero Beach, FL, Jeff Poole, Albany, GA, Ronnie (Marie) Poole, Albany, GA, her beloved niece, Rhyne (Richard) Owenby, Villa Rica, GA, a brother, Robert (Barbara) Wilson, Gainesville, GA, her nephew Keith Wilson (Lorrie) Wilson, Goshen, OH, her nephew Rusty (Deanne) Blakenship, Fort White, FL, grandchildren, Mallory (Bryan) Henry, Windsor, CO, Kelly (Bradley) Rucker, Baconton, GA, Taylor (Jenna) Poole, Albany, GA, Miles McQuaig, Ocala, FL, Shannon Vest, Tacoma, WA, and 10 great-grandchildren.
