Effie Leola Tucker

Effie Leola Tucker, 76, of Albany, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, September 10, 2025 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2025 at Mathews Funeral Home at 4:00 PM. Berry Hall will officiate. Visitation will follow after the service.

 She was born on January 13, 1949, in Dawson, Georgia. Effie's love for life was evident in her hobbies and interests. She took joy in watching her favorite soap operas and enjoyed the moments spent riding her bicycle and taking walks during her younger years. Effie had a fondness for riding the bus around town, embracing the simplicity of daily adventures. She was of the Baptist faith. 

Effie was preceded in death by her husband, Ronnie Tucker, a loss that left a profound impact on her family. Effie is survived by her beloved sister, Betty Sue Speir of Albany, GA, as well as her nieces Shanna Callahan, Kay Sutherland (Bobby), and Jill Snyder (Jeff). She also leaves behind her nephews Keith Speir (Tammy), Chester Callahan, and Charles Callahan, Jr., her great nieces Kaley Speir, Brooke Speir, Courtney Speir, and Alyssa Earp, along with her great nephew Tatum Ryker Speir. Effie’s caregivers, Diane Perry and Gigi Wakem, alongside her extended family at the ARC, were instrumental in providing support and companionship during her life.
