Edward Mitchell

Mr. Edward Lee Mitchell, 98, of Albany, Georgia, died Sunday, May 21, 2023.  Mr. Mitchell professed Christ as his personal Lord and Savior and now resides in his heavenly home.  He was a beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather.  Mr. Mitchell was a U. S. Army veteran serving during World War II in Germany.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany, Georgia at 2PM.  Pastor John Spencer will officiate.  The family will receive friends in the church atrium from 1-2 PM.  Interment will follow the service at Crown Hill Cemetery.  

Mr. Mitchell was born in Mauk, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Elie Mitchell and Gussie Viola Brady and 6 siblings.  He resided in Albany, GA since 1966, where he was a member of Sherwood Baptist Church.

Mr. Mitchell was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Cook Mitchell.   He is survived by a large family, including his daughters Nancy Huff (Jimmy), Ellen Blackmon (Myron), Judy Sikes (Tim) and grandchildren Leigh Ann Huff Bean (Charles), Michael Huff (Jean), Justin Huff (Jenna), Charlie Blackmon (Ashley), Katie Blackmon Moultrie (Chris), Mitch Sikes, Micah Sikes and 11 beloved great grandchildren. 

The family wishes to thank the many faithful healthcare professionals for their expert, loving care provided for our father.  He was very fortunate to have such dedicated professionals that made him as comfortable as possible during his last days.
