With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, son, and uncle who died unexpectedly on Sunday evening as the result of a tragic accident.
Born in Edina, Minnesota, Dr. Theodore "Tedd" Eric Rothman was the son of Richard and Cynthia Rothman. He was the brother of Dr. Elizabeth Blakemore.
Tedd spent most of his childhood in Kentucky. He was a bright and friendly child who loved to make people laugh. He was always surrounded by friends. Here he developed a love for basketball both as a player and as a fan for the University of Kentucky Wildcats.
Tedd attended the University of Kentucky for his undergraduate degree in biology. His aspirations to be a doctor then led him to medical school at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine. Following medical school, he completed residency in anesthesia at the University of Wake Forest College of Medicine. Theodore was married to Kimberly Kyker in 1997, and they shared three wonderful children: Noah (25), Grace (23), and Sawyer (20). Tedd's career carried the family to Great Falls, MT; Spokane, WA; and then Greenville, SC. He married Stacy White in 2013. The couple shared a life in Greenville, SC until moving to Albany, Georgia in 2023.
Tedd's children attended Southside Christian School in Greenville, SC and attended the University of South Carolina for their undergraduate studies. Noah is currently in Birmingham, AL attending dental school at UAB. Grace is finishing a second bachelors degree in nursing at the Medical University of South Carolina. Sawyer will enter his junior year of undergraduate university in August of 2026.
Tedd was known by all to be passionate about his beliefs, his calling as a husband and father, and a doctor. He was an active member at Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany, GA and regularly expressed his love for and dependence on Jesus Christ for hope in this life and the next. Tedd was a lover of many things, but none compared to how he loved his family. His wife and children were the recipients of a fierce and protecting love until his last breath. He was well respected by his colleagues whom he called family and his patients knew him as one who truly cared and made them feel valued.
Tedd loved the University of Kentucky athletic programs. He had a passion for life and new adventures. He loved his country and celebrating the 4th of July. He was known for his amazing fireworks displays and spending time grilling in the back yard with those he loved. He loved all things outdoors; from deep sea fishing to farming, walking to hiking. Tedd was a man who loved simple things such as a sunset on his back porch or a glass of fine bourbon. He loved to share his pastimes with his family, instilling a devotion to the University of Kentucky and a love for the outdoors. His regular mantra was "each generation better than the last". Tedd fought to better his children and instill virtue in his kids whom he regarded as his legacy.
On June 13, 2026, he was able to witness the marriage of his eldest son Noah to his now wife Caroline Rothman. His family remembers him beaming with joy and pride at welcoming a new daughter and celebrating with the people he loved the most.
For all who read this, Tedd would want you to make sure you were right with the Lord knowing Jesus Christ as your Savior, and that you love your family with everything in your being. He would tell you to call, to hug, and to take time to tell your family that you love them. Please honor the memory of Tedd Rothman in these regards by examining your faith and family
Tedd was extremely supportive of his wife's call to minister to others as a biblical counselor. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Albany Biblical Counseling.
