Dr. Ronald W. (Ronnie) Williams

Dr. Ronald (Ronnie) Waller Williams, 51, of Vienna, GA, formerly of Albany, GA died April 3, 2011 of complications from surgery. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:00 P.M. at the Vienna United Methodist Church. Dr. Al Cadenhead and Rev. Chris Ramsey will officiate.

A native of Columbus, GA, Ronnie had resided in Albany, GA all of his life before moving to Vienna, GA in August of 2008. He graduated from Westover High School in 1977 and attended undergraduate school at Auburn University where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. Ronnie graduated from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1985. He was a member of the veterinary fraternity, Alpha Psi and was also awarded the Young Achievers Award by the College of Veterinary Medicine at Auburn in 1985.

Ronnie served on the Board of Directors for the Southwest Georgia Easter Seal Society from 1996-1998. He was a member and past president of the Artesian City Sertoma Club and was a member of the Past Presidents Club. He was also named Sertoman of the Year for 1994-1995.

Ronnie became a partner in the practice of Dockery, Williams, Odom & Deriso in 1990 and had worked at the clinic since he was a teenager. He was a member of The First United Methodist Church of Albany and had been attending Vienna United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Dr. C. McCoy Williams and Carol Jane Waller Williams.

Survivors include his wife, Debbie Deiter Williams of Vienna, GA, three children, Brooke Williams of Athens, GA, Cameron (Cam) Williams of Vienna, GA and Carolynn Williams of Macon, GA, two brothers, Randy Williams and his wife, Vanessa of Columbus, GA and Dr. Roger Williams and his wife, Caron of Perry, GA, a step-daughter and her husband, Casey and Matt Rushton of Albany, GA and three step-grandchildren, Hampton Rushton, West Rushton and Witton Rushton.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 7:30 pm Tuesday at Mathews Funeral Home, 3206 Gillionville Road, Albany, GA 31721.
