Douglas “Doug” Daniels, (USN, Ret.), 87, of Bronwood, GA, died July 25, 2025 at his residence. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, July 30, 2025 at 12:00 pm, at Mathews Funeral Home. Chaplain Norman Pierce will officiate. Committal services will follow at 2:00 pm at Andersonville National Cemetery with Military Honors.
Doug was born on March 3, 1938 in Paintsville, KY to Floyd and Dorothy Daniels. He grew up in Pemberton, NJ and after High School joined the United States Navy. Doug served his Country for twenty-two years before his retirement in 1976. He served in many duty stations throughout the United States and abroad.
Doug married Irene Denney in 1959 and they have three children. He moved to Bronwood, GA in 1976 and was employed with B & R Hydraulics before opening Metalwerk in Dawson, GA in 1988. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Terrell County. He was also a member of many community support organizations. Doug was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Hal W. Heath and his granddaughter, Mariah Irene Daniels.
Survivors include his wife of sixty-six years, Irene Denney Daniels of Bronwood, GA; his children, Kimberly Heath Nix (John) of Bronwood, GA, Toby Douglas Daniels (Terri) of Bronwood, GA, and Lorrie Combs (Perry) of Billings, Montana; his grandchildren, Murray Heath, II (Elizabeth), Alexander Heath (Sara), Alice McCauley (Danny), Ken Nix (Kim), Michael Nix, Cam Greenfield (Chris), Jai Pruitt (Robin), Blake Williamson (Tiffany); his great grandchildren, Harrison, Hudson, Grady and Reese Heath, Hank and Finley Heath, Taigan and Pyper McCauley, Tasmyn Prince (Brady) and Tyler Williamson; and other great grandchildren, as well as several friends who he considered his family.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm at Mathews Funeral Home.
