Dorothy R. Hemling

Dorothy Roach Hemling, 73, of Lee County, GA, passed away December 10, 2025 at her residence. A memorial service will be held Saturday December 20, 2025 at 11:00 am at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Jamie Sanders will officiate.

Dorothy was born on February 5, 1952 to the late Ravelle and Janie Mae Roach in Blakely, GA. She was raised in Baker County, GA where she attended Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. Dorothy married bob Hemling in 1967 and moved to Albany, GA where she graduated from Albany Vo Tech (Albany Technical College). She was employed with HCA Palmyra Hospital and Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital as an X-Ray Technician. She was a loving wife and mother and enjoyed staying at home if not attending car shows with Bob.

Survivors include her husband, Bob Hemling and her daughters, Liz Thrower and Julie (David) Smith all of Lee County, GA, two grandchildren, Amber (Jared) Kimbrel of Lee County, GA and Bryan (Alyssa) Adairsville, GA, her great-grandchild, Brynlee Kimbrel, other survivors include her siblings, Ineeda (Rick) Wheeler of Newton, GA, Gerald Roach of Sylvester, GA, Judy Deck of St. Petersburg, FL, Maggie Camp of Clearwater, FL and Kathy White of Newton, GA.

The family will receive friends Saturday, December 20, 2025 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at Mathews Funeral Home.
