Dorothy Musgrove Goodwin

Dorothy Musgrove Goodwin, 90, of Albany, GA, passed away September 12, 2026 at her home surrounded by family. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 16, 2026 at 2:00 pm at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Jay Ridenhower will officiate. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery.

Dorothy was born in Waycross, GA on February 9, 1936 to Vandy and Ruby Musgrove. She was the oldest of seven children and was raised in Albany, GA. She graduated from Albany High School in 1955, attended Southeastern Bible College and graduated from Troy State College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education.

Dorothy taught in The Dougherty County School System for thirty one years, retiring from Radium Elementary in 1992. She was a member of Life Church and served in the Royal Rangers Boys Ministry at First Assembly of God

She volunteered at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, and The Willson Hospice House where she made comfort pillows and over a hundred memory bears. Dorothy was a great cook, loved to bake, make arts and crafts and spend time with family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Patricia Wilcox, Shirley Shockley and Jerry Musgrove.

Survivors include her husband, Warner Goodwin of Albany, GA, her children, Kelly (Melissa) Goodwin of Lee County, GA, Derek (Rebecca) Goodwin of Clarkesville, GA and DeDe Nichols of Macon, GA, her siblings, Vernie Musgrove of Sparta, GA, Raymond (Tilda) Musgrove of Lake City, FL and Ronnie Musgrove of Vidalia, GA, her grandchildren, Aaron (Ashley) Goodwin of Valdosta, GA, Caleb Goodwin of Clarkesville, GA, Carson Goodwin of Kalamazoo, MI, Grant Goodwin of Atlanta, GA, Kadie (Hunter) Tyler of Clarkesville, GA and Hayden Nichols of Marietta, GA and her great-grandchildren, Hannah Goodwin, Claire Goodwin and Katelyn Goodwin.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Mathews Funeral Home.
