Donald Hayward Hinson, of Albany, GA, passed away on Thursday January 8, 2026 at his residence at the age of 66. A memorial gathering to honor Donald's memory will take place on January 24, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at 1001 6th Ave, Albany, Georgia, 31701. Family and friends are invited to come together to celebrate the life and legacy of a beloved husband, father, and friend.
Born on December 25, 1959, in Eufaula, Alabama, to Annette Hinson Hamilton and Robert Hinson. Throughout his life, Donald worked in the construction field till he followed his passion for music and enrolling in broadcasting school. He became a radio disc Jockey known as Curley with B-100, Power 94, Magic 97. He also worked at Fox 31 News in the broadcasting department. His passion and knowledge for music continued through his life. A self-taught guitarist playing in bands and making recordings, one of his proudest moments is when he met Alice Cooper. He was an avid collector of albums, comics, and movies. With a vast collection of each. He was a talented artist and avid reader. Always wanting to learn more and understanding the world.
Donald is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Lori Hinson, and their son Ian Hinson, both of Albany, Georgia. He is also survived by his father, Robert Hinson of Cairo, Georgia. Nieces Lindsay Hinson and Jade Church, mother-in-law Dorothy Zelazny, sister-in-law Patricia (William) Olinger, brothers-in-law Eddie Zelazny and sister-in-law Marylynn Zelazny. His nieces and nephews: Jimmy (Jessica) Olinger, John Olinger, Bobby (Katie) Olinger, Billy (Sarah) Olinger, Clayton Zelazny (Kelsi), Miranda Zelazny (Tucker), Wyatt Zelazny, and many great nieces and nephews.
Donald was preceded in death by his daughter, Kimberly Hinson; his mother, Annette Hamilton; and his brother, Michael Hinson, sister-in-law Tammey Hinson, step-mother, Patrcia Hinson, father-in-law, Chester Zelazny, and Brother-in-law, James Zelazny.
