Donald Ray Chapman

Donald R. “Don” Chapman. 83, of Lee County, GA, passed away at his home on September 1, 2026. A private memorial service will be held Monday, September 7, 2026 at 2:00 pm at Mathews Funeral Home. Dr. William E. “Butch” Knight will officiate.

Don was born in Anderson, IN on February 7, 1943 to the late Raymond and Ruth Chapman. He grew up and graduated from Anderson High School in 1961. Don joined the United States Air Force and served during Vietnam.

Don moved to Albany, GA in 1978 when General Motors opened the Delco Remy Plant. He was employed there until 1998. Don was a member of The First Baptist Church of Albany, a Master Mason and member of Dougherty Lodge # 591 F&AM where he served as Chaplain and was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason and a member of The Valley of Albany. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his son, Greg Chapman, survivors include his wife, Cynthia Speir Chapman and a step-daughter, Kristi (Eddie) Ruby all of Lee County, GA, a brother, Leon (Shirley) Chapman of Anderson, IN, two step grandchildren, Danielle (Nick) Musgrove of Spanish Fort, AL and Mikayla (Tucker) Duke of Auburn. AL.
