Daisy Hobbs McCorvey, 89, of Albany, GA, died June 6, 2022 at her residence surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 AM at Byne Memorial Baptist Church. Rev. Mark Jackson and Rev. Charles Jones will officiate. Interment will follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery in Thomasville, GA.
Mrs. McCorvey was born in Thomasville, GA on June 10, 1932 to Henry Melton Hobbs, Sr. and Nina Jordan Hobbs. She grew up there and graduated from Thomasville High School in 1950. Mrs. McCorvey graduated from Norman Junior College and married Jack McCorvey in 1952. For the next twenty years, she was a military wife and mother and they traveled from station to station in the United States.
Mrs. McCorvey settled in Albany, GA in 1973 And was a member of Byne Memorial Baptist Church and the Faith Sunday School Class. She was an avid collector of Dolls and Birds and a great seamstress of clothing and draperies. She was preceded in death by a son, Mike McCorvey and a brother, Melton Hobbs, Jr.
Survivors include her husband of 69 years, Jack McCorvey, Sr. of Albany, GA, three children, Jean McCorvey Rich of Richmond Hill, GA, Jimmy McCorvey of Albany, GA and Cheryl McCorvey Couch and her husband, Bobby, two sisters, Amy Hobbs Parker and her husband, Jim of Thomasville, GA and Le Hobbs Duckworth and her husband, Don of Memphis, TN, her grandchildren, Amber Rich Fordham of Richmond Hill, GA, Lyndsey Rich Lifer of Ft. Riley, KS, Ashley McCorvey Reynolds of Lee County, GA, Matthew McCorvey of Colquitt, GA, Michelle McCorvey Bacon of Comer, GA, Michael McCorvey of Lawrenceville, GA, Jeanifer Griner Hill of Lee County, GA, Wesley Griner of Cumming, GA, Maddie McCorvey Byrd of Delco, NC, two step-grandchildren, Lee Couch of Albany, GA and Candice Weekley of Sasser, GA, fourteen great-grandchildren and a number of cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until 11:00 am immediately preceding the service at Byne Memorial Baptist Church.
