Comalea Rich

Comalea Rich, 72, of Albany, GA passed away Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at Willson Hospice House. Funeral arrangements to be announced.

Comalea was born September 12, 1950, in Bristol, Connecticut to the late Joseph Rich and Comalea Wingate. At an early age she moved to Valdosta, GA where she attended Valdosta High School and Valdosta State University. She worked in the electrical supply business starting at 15 years old with her step-father and then for Weatherbee Electric, CamBar, Hagenmeyer, and Lowe Electric until March 30, 2023, when she retired after 57 years in the industry. Known as a pioneer for women in the industry, she was admired by many.

She was known by friends as caring, loyal, and strong, and was an avid baseball fan. She was an active member of Byne Memorial Baptist Church in Albany, GA. Comalea was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Walter Wingate.

Survivors include her brother, Dennis Rich and wife Diane of Phoenix, AZ, her nieces and nephews and their families, Kristy Galinski of Hobart, IN, Kelly Follmar of Chicago, IL, Lindsey McAllister of Ocean Springs, MS, Joseph Rich of San Luis Obispo, CA, Travis Wingate of Toronto, Canada, and an extended family: Mary Lou Chavers, Kelly Chavers both of Albany, GA, Michael Loubier of Anza, CA, and Christopher Brennan of Grand Rapids, MI.

In lieu of flowers, she requested that donations be made to the Byne Memorial – Building the Legacy Fund, 2832 Ledo Rd, Albany, GA 31707.
