Claire Jeannette Davis

Claire Jeannette Davis was born to Fred Earle Davis and Florine Smith Davis at the family home in Sasser, Ga. on January 20, 1933. Jeannette, as she was called by friends and family, went to Georgia Southwestern College and became a lab technician at Phoebe Putney hospital.

After her retirement at age 55 she purchased a small farm where she hosted many friends and family. Jeannette was known for her humor and scathing wit as well as her love of dogs, who were her companions through life.

She is survived by three nieces: Laurie Davis Casseday (Kevin) of Jacksonville, Fla.; Jane Davis Thompson (Claude) of Atlanta, Ga.; and Martha Davis Woodruff (Robert) and four great-nephews: Samuel Davis Casseday of Seattle, Wa.; Isaiah Davis Woodruff of Greenville, S.C; Nathan Lamastus Woodruff of Pensacola, Fl.; and Peter Harold Casseday of Jacksonville, Fl.

Jeannette was pre-deceased by her parents Fred and Florine; brother Harold Earle Davis (Priscilla); and niece Margaret Huckaby Davis.

The family wishes to thank everyone at Evergreen at Century Pines who lovingly cared for Jeannette the last 5 years, in particular but not limited to Denise Wang, Tenisha Brown, Marlene Williams, and Lena Beach. We also thank Phoebe Hospice, especially Hope Parks, for their tireless care to make Jeannette comfortable in her last days. Most particularly the family thanks Beth Tedford, lifelong family friend, who selflessly rendered critical help to us for years. Jeannette was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
