Chris Allen Berry

Chris Allen Berry, 65, of Leesburg, GA passed away Friday, August 25, 2023, at his residence, surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at 9:00 a.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. Mr. John Brenner will officiate. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the committal shelter at Andersonville National Cemetery with military honors.

 

Born in Noblesville, IN, he attended Hamilton Heights High School. He moved to Albany, GA in the summer of 1980, after serving in the US Army. He began work at MCLB Albany in 1982, retiring in 2015 as the Director of the Motor Transport and Engineer Division in the Weapon System Management Center. In 2009, he was awarded Commendation for Meritorious Civilian Service by the Department of the Navy and awarded a second Commendation in 2015, all for his work as the Director of MRAP Program Support Office from 2006 to 2015. Chris was known to his grandchildren as Pawpaw, and he enjoyed spending time with them hunting, fishing, and attending sporting events. He attended Hope City United Church and was a former Elder at The Refuge Church. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Jo Powers.
