Cecil Cooper, 76, of Newton, GA died Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Cooper a native of Dawson, GA, had resided in Newton for the last 25 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Laverne Cooper and a daughter, Diane Cooper.

Survivors include his son, Cecil Dewayne Cooper, a daughter, Debbie Cooper Gaines, both of Newton, GA, four grandchildren, John Gaines, Jr. of Baker County, Nancy Gaines of Albany, GA, Jessica Gaines of Baker County, and Daniel Cooper of Athens, GA, and three great-grandchildren.

At his request, Mr. Cooper's remains have been cremated and no service has been scheduled.
