Carrie Haire-Joiner

Carrie Haire-Joiner, 90, of Albany, GA died Monday, October 23, 2023 at her residence. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:00 pm at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Doc Rufus Williams will officiate and Rev. Matthew Schluckebier will officiate at the committal at Floral Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Carrie was born January 6, 1933 in Blakely, GA. She was raised by her mother, Abbie Gail Davis Haire and step-father, Harvey Haire. She made a comfortable home for her family, worked with her first husband, Bill Haire, in their painting business, also at Dougherty County Children and Family Services, and Old America making flower arrangements and bows.

Carrie was a self-taught seamstress. She was a pillar of East Albany Church of God for over forty years and loved working with children in every capacity including Sunday School Superintendent and decorating the church for all the holidays. 

Carrie was preceded in death by her husbands, Bill Haire in 1988, and Larkin Joiner in 1997, her son, B A Haire, grandson, Jason Fleming, and daughter-in-law, Janice Haire.  Survivors include her children, Virginia (Buddy) Gilley, Billie (Jack) Fleming, Gwen (Tommy) Carr, Darrell Haire, daughter-in-law, Deborah Haire, grandchildren, Candy (Randy) Reid, Angela Savelle, Sonya Morris, Chris Fleming, Brian Carr, Stephanie (Ryan) Chapman, Taylor (Maryanne) Carr, 13 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren, siblings, Fannie Lou Chinell and Charlie Haire.

The family is thankful for her caregivers, Angela Frazier and Lisa Edwards, Hospice-Georgia Care aka Agape, her nurses, Tessa Harnage and Jillian Abgott, her CNAs, Karen Gardner and Jackie Bowman and Chaplain Jeff Carter.

The family will be at Mrs. Haire-Joiner’s residence, but will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm Thursday at Mathews Funeral Home.
