Carl J. Montgomery, 75, of Lee County, GA died September 8, 2011 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Memorial services will be held Sunday at 2:00 PM at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Ken Chancellor will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Bill Maxwell, Richard Hunter, Robert Lane, Larry Taylor, Willie Walker and Jeremy Harrell will serve as honorary pallbearers.

A native of Russellville, AL, born to the late Wallace Russell Montgomery and Ruby Mae Cummings Montgomery, Carl graduated from Russellville High School in 1954 as Salutatorian. He served in the United Sates Air Force and moved to the Albany, GA area forty five years ago.

Carl was employed with The Mack Truck Company and Transpower Inc. for over fifty years and served as Parts Manager. He was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church and was a former member of Albany Lodge # 24, Albany Shrine Club, Hasan Shriners and The Directors Staff. He was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Ann Morgan.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Montgomery of Lee County, GA, two daughters, Lisa Baxter and her husband, Kirk and Carla Goldman and her husband, Michael all of Columbus, GA, two sisters, Dorothy Morgan and her husband, Billy and Margaret Humphries and her husband, David and a brother-in-law and his wife, Dennis and Fayrene Morgan, all of Russellville, AL and five grandchildren, Britney Larch of Clarksville, TN, Carlton Baxter of Columbus, GA, Ian Baxter of Kennesaw, GA, Montgomery Goldman and Joseph Goldman both of Columbus, GA.

Carl's cremains will be interred at his hometown of Russellville, AL on September 17, 2011.
