Brenda Cosby Moncus

Brenda Jenelle Cosby Moncus passed away peacefully on May 4, 2026, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. She had been a resident of Lee County Health & Rehab in Leesburg, Georgia, since 2022. A private family memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026.

Brenda spent most of her life in Dawson, a place she dearly loved, and was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was known for her kind heart, gentle spirit, and the quiet strength she carried throughout her life. Brenda loved her family deeply, and nothing brought her more joy than the time she spent with them. Her warmth, compassion, and steady presence will be missed beyond measure by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Essie Rigsby Cosby; her brother, Jessie Woodman; and her sisters, Christine Buchanan, Carol Reeves, and Emily Stabler.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter, Tammy Storey, and her son, Ricky Storey, both of Americus; her sisters, Cecelia Jamieson of Monroeville, AL, Mary Hughes of Oglethorpe, GA, and Jewel Ricks of Dawson; along with many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Brenda’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Brenda’s life was a quiet blessing, her memory a treasure, and she will be loved and remembered always.
