Bobby Frank Glover, 93, of Albany, GA, passed away Thursday, April 9, 2026, at Willson Hospice House.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, April 13, 2026, at First Free Will Baptist Church. Rev. Mark Walker will officiate. Private entombment will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery and Mausoleum.
Bob was married to the love of his life, June Marie Glover, for nearly 73 years before her passing in July of 2025 at the age of 91. Marie was more than his wife—she was his rock, his best friend, and his light.
Bob carried many titles throughout his life. He proudly served his country as a retired Master Sergeant and Vietnam veteran, dedicating 23 years of service before retiring in May of 1971 while stationed in Clovis, New Mexico. It was during basic training in 1950 that he met his sweet Marie. After returning to Albany, Georgia, he began a second career, driving a semi-truck for nearly 24 years before retiring from Georgia-Pacific.
To his four sons, he was simply “Pops.” To the neighborhood children, he was “Mr. G.” And to the children at First Free Will Baptist Church, where he faithfully served as a deacon for many years, he was affectionately known as “the Candy Man.” However, the title he cherished most was “Papa,” or “Pa.” His 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren were the pride and joy of his life. He could often be found in the backyard, swinging his grandchildren for hours or cheering loudly from the bleachers as his boys played ball—no matter the sport. It’s safe to say he may have given a few umpires a hard time along the way.
Bob was a devoted fan of the Atlanta Braves—more than a fan, truly a fanatic. He rarely missed a game and would stay up late to watch them play, even on the West Coast.
He was known for his generous spirit and his ability to connect with anyone—he truly never met a stranger. Later in life, he became affectionately known as the “cat whisperer,” showing a deep compassion for stray animals. Above all, Bob was a man of strong faith. He and Marie were devoted members of First Free Will Baptist Church in Albany for over 50 years.
Bob lived an honorable life and set a powerful example of what it means to be a loving husband, father, and friend. He taught those around him to love unconditionally, to put God and family first, and to trust that everything else would fall into place.
Now, may he rest high on that mountain. Give Mama a hug from all of us. Job well done, Pops—we’ve got it from here.
Survivors include his sons and their wives, Rodney Dale Glover (Denise), Chittenango, NY; Dillard Glover (Tisha), Albany, GA; Steven Ray Glover (Diana), Leesburg, GA; and Jackie Glover (Niki), Leesburg, GA; grandchildren, Rodney Glover, Allison Timms, Shelby Drumgold, Whitney Blackwell, Kendal Bullard, Easton Glover, Garrett Glover, Colton Glover, Shay Fowler, Mikenna Glover, and Talon Glover; and great-grandchildren, Rodney Glover (RJ), Brendan Glover, Colby Glover, Anakin Glover, Lincoln Drumgold, Theo Drumgold, Carter Blackwell, Jameson Blackwell, Tallie Glover, Tess Glover, Keaton Fowler, Ryker Fowler, Finley Fowler, Emmitt Glover, Sawyer Cook, and Kash Glover.
The family will receive friends on Monday at First Free Will Baptist Church from 1:30 p.m. until the funeral hour.
Those desiring may make memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Bobby Frank Glover to the Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 5576, Macon, GA 31208.
